Methodology
I believe that learning how to play an instrument is like learning a new language. It is very important to surround yourself with the language, so I always like to curate playlists of relevant songs for my students to build their vocabulary and reference points. As well, I have had the best results with students when teaching practical theory that can be applied to songs and musical ideas that the student enjoys. My teaching approach is two-sided, and I enjoy working with students who are hungry to learn and open to growing together.
Background
I am a part-time musician and full-time strategy consultant who has performed at weddings, golf clubs, private galas, night markets, and other public events. Having played guitar since the year School of Rock was released (18 years), I specialize in playing and teaching students how to improvise over various chord progressions including the blues or other jazz standards.
