About Pranav

Hi! I'm Pranav.

I am an incoming Waterloo CS/BBA Double Degree student attending on a $20,000 national entrance scholarship. I recently graduated high school with a 99.8% average, including perfect 100% scores in both Grade 12 Advanced Functions (MHF4U) and Calculus & Vectors (MCV4U).

My approach to tutoring comes from realizing something simple: many students struggle in math not because they lack ability or intelligence, but because they haven't been taught how to study for it. Often, a drop in grades is because of unstructured study habits or poor test-taking strategies.

I aim to be more than just a homework helper. My goal is to be a supportive mentor who helps your child build a strong academic foundation. I work closely with students to help them master the math curriculum while developing the organization, study habits, and confidence they need to succeed independently!

About the lesson

I teach math by focusing on understanding rather than memorization. We focus on the why behind formulas so that when students encounter unfamiliar or challenging questions on tests, they have the tools to solve them.

Alongside math, I cover effective study strategies, such as how to practice, manage time during exams, and eliminate careless mistakes.

What a lesson looks like:

00:00 - 00:10 | Homework & Doubt Clearing: We review the previous lesson’s work, any doubts from school content, and decide our topic focus for the day.
00:10 - 00:35 | Concept Explanation and Intro: I introduce a new topic with examples, sample problems, and explain the steps and reasons behind it in detail.
00:35 - 00:50 | Guided Practice: The student solves a problem set with various situations while I help guide and ensure correct solving form .
00:50 - 01:00 | Lesson Recap, Summary & Strategy : We summarize the main takeaways of the lesson, set new goals, and recap study strategy!
