About Maria
Hi everyone, I’m Maria! While earning bachelor’s degrees in Chemical Engineering and Applied Science, I gained valuable tutoring experience as a teaching assistant and through student mentorship programs.
As a tutor, I draw on my years of teaching dance lessons and working as a camp counselor to connect with students and create an engaging environment. I communicate with students using language they understand and simplify problems with non-intimidating explanations.

My education in process engineering has given me a strong understanding of how math and physics apply to the real world. It’s also taught me that memorizing formulas and procedures isn’t always enough, especially when that curveball appears on a test!
That’s why I focus on helping students understand the “why” behind the steps, develop problem-solving strategies, and build the confidence to tackle even the trickiest bonus questions!
I approach math and science lesson plans with the same problem-solving methods that I teach. Rather than blindly following a procedure, I begin with understanding “why.” Why is this student not getting the results they want? Why is the material not resonating with them? Why do they keep getting stuck? From there, I design personalized sessions to reach the solution and help them succeed!
