About Sota

About me I love teaching Japanese and building lasting friendships with my students! Over the past 2 years, I've had the joy of guiding learners from absolute beginners all the way to advanced speakers. My passion for language education stems from my own journey. I learned English from scratch to a B2 level in less than 4 years while living in Japan, and I also spent a year studying abroad in France. Whether you are taking your very first steps or aiming for conversational fluency, I am committed to making your learning journey engaging, clear, and fun. I look forward to meeting you in class!

My lessons are the way to go! 【Lesson approach】 Beginner You'll be able to speak basic Japanese. You'll hit the ground running in Japan (Ask for directions & price, order food, etc). You'll be able to talk about yourself and ask basic questions to make friends in Japan from zero knowledge. With 100% English explanations, You'll build a foundation in grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation through translation exercises and role plays. You'll start with the basics (Hiragana, numbers, dates, basic greetings, etc.), along with step-by-step, easy-to-understand grammar and vocabulary materials tailored for English speakers, all in one document. Intermediate You'll learn to speak Japanese without translating it in your head. You'll be able to express your emotions and opinions, as long as the topics are familiar. You and I will have a role-play with specific grammar and words in relatable contexts so you can talk about a wide range of topics. Advanced You'll learn more vocabulary: idioms, colloquial expressions, slang, and advanced grammar, with many example sentences. You'll be encouraged to incorporate some of them into our conversations to make your Japanese sound more native-like.
