About John
I’m an actor, writer and theatre-maker with experience creating, developing and touring original work. I’ve taken solo and small-scale shows from first idea through writing, rehearsal, work-in-progress performances and full public runs, so I understand both the creative and practical challenges of making a show from scratch. I enjoy helping other performers and writers find the clearest, most theatrical version of their idea, while keeping the work personal, playful and genuinely their own.

These one-to-one sessions will guide you through the full process of creating your own solo show, from the first idea to performance. We can explore your subject, themes and personal material, develop characters and structure, generate scenes through writing and improvisation, shape and edit the script, test material aloud, and work on performance, rhythm, audience connection and staging. The mentoring can be adapted to wherever you are in the process, whether you are starting with only an idea or already have a draft that you want to develop into a finished piece.
