My methodology depends on the needs of the student. For those looking for help with English as an additional language, I can be a conversation partner as well as a tutor in vocabulary and grammar. For those needing help in essay writing, I can provide exercises and tips on writing with style and clarity. I also have experience in technical writing and proofreading/editing of drafts or finished essays.
Everyone learns differently so it is my job to be as flexible to those needs as possible.
I have a BA from SFU. My major is English with an Education minor as well as the Writing and Rhetoric Certificate. My TESOL certificate is from Oxford Seminars.
I believe in communication and the power of rhetoric. My background is in the mastery of reading, writing, listening and speaking of English.
Perfect! Stephanie is a professional, patient, and kind English tutor. I am a full-time university student; English is my secondary language. She can help me in many different areas -- speaking, grammar, and writing.
Excellent! We have been having our english lessons with Stephanie for a few weeks now. She has a friendly professional manner and she is very helpful and patient when necessary. we have learnt so much in a short time, she is able to spot our knowledge gap and address them. She is also giving us advise on which book to read and which movie to watch to fill our gaps and speed up our learning progress.
She is pretty helpful. She has lots of ambitions in English and helping others get through difficulties. For example, my reading is pretty poor, she read the stuff that we needed on meeting forehead. And teach me word by word if I have confusion on any parts of the article or news. Other than she also helps me proof my grammar mistake, pronunciation... Sometimes, if I have lots of questions and original one meeting is not enough for me, she also provides extra help by setting another meeting. She is pretty nice and patient person. Hope this will give you some ideas about how good she is!
I met Stephanie when she volunteered up at SFU as a conversation partner for the international students. We worked together in that program and I could tell she has a real passion for teaching.
The volunteers met once a month with the department head, Tim Mossman, and Stephanie was always engaged in learning from our work as well as presenting us with great ideas from her experience.
