About Mari

Hi, I’m Mari. I achieved A*/A at GCSE/A Level biology, and have a BSc in Zoology from the University of Southampton. I am currently studying for a Master’s in Animal Behaviour and Welfare at the University of Edinburgh. I have a keen interest in Biology, and love sharing this with others. I want to help students understand their subject better so they can find enjoyment in it.

About the lesson

I have had roles as peer mentor/tutor throughout my A Levels and Degree. I tutor students from Year 7 up to A Level.

My main objective in tutoring is to ensure that students get the most out of each lesson. I tailor sessions to their goals, and focus on the topics they most want to cover. Whether that be going over something they didn’t understand in class, or finding the most effective revision techniques for the way they learn.

I use engaging real-life examples and fun acronyms to help students remember concepts easily. Once confident in their understanding, I encourage students to work through practise questions to solidify their learning. Using the mark scheme and learning objectives of the exam board is also a great way to better understand what exam questions are asking for.

Everyone learns differently, and I adapt my teaching to suit individual needs. Session length can also be adjusted as required, from 30 minutes to 1 hour.
