About Emily

Hello, my name is Emily, and I am a music undergraduate at the University of Bristol. I participated as a first-chair flautist in two orchestras and perform piano in several concerts. I also sing - I perform in pubs and care homes in both the UK and Japan, and in school choirs and musicals. Additionally, I have a grade 8 distinction ABRSM certificate in piano. I love teaching children, especially about music and how it can become a hobby they grow to love. I volunteered at a primary school weekly to spend time with younger children and read/teach/interact with them. I also help out my old school's music department from time to time, volunteering to help with the small string orchestra and show parents around. Overall, I am passionate about educating children in music and committed to encouraging a deeper appreciation and understanding of the subject.

About the lesson

Happy to teach basic theory alongside lessons - the lesson is tailored to you/your child's needs. Preferably easier to teach in your own home. I prefer to teach children up to any age, as long as they are of a beginner level. Typically I would give any lesson between the range of 30 minutes to 1 hour, but these can again be decided by you. My teaching methods are similar to that of my previous professional teachers that I have been taught by, including Japanese teaching styles of singing notes and rhythm-counting. I bring my own pre-prepared materials, such as rhythm cards, and will recommend you suitable piano books for your level.
