About Ray
I'm Ray, a University of Sydney student who achieved Band 6 in HSC English Advanced, Band 6 in HSC Chemistry, and E4 in both Maths Extension 1 and Extension 2 — with an ATAR of 98.85, ranking top 5 in my cohort throughout high school.
I tutor Years 7–10 across Maths, English, and Science because I genuinely believe the habits students build in junior school determine how well they cope in senior years. My approach is patient, structured, and encouraging — I identify where a student's understanding breaks down and rebuild from there, at a pace that works for them.

Lessons are tailored to the student's current school work and upcoming assessments, following the NSW curriculum for each subject:
Maths — Number and algebra, measurement and geometry, statistics, financial mathematics, and foundational skills for Advanced and Extension in senior years.
English — Essay and creative writing, reading comprehension, text analysis, language techniques, grammar, and persuasive writing. Written feedback is provided on all student work.
Science — Physical World (forces, energy, waves), Earth and Space, Living World (cells, genetics, ecosystems), and Chemical World (matter, reactions, periodic table).
Each session begins by identifying what the student needs most that week — whether that's an upcoming test, a tricky concept, or a piece of assessment. All teaching materials are prepared by me and customized to each student. Lessons run 1–2 hours online, and students are welcome to bring textbooks, worksheets, or past tests to work through together.

Years 7–10 Maths, English & Science + NAPLAN Prep | USyd student | 98.85 ATAR | Patient & structured
About you:
I'm Ray, a University of Sydney student who achieved Band 6 in HSC English Advanced, Band 6 in HSC Chemistry, and E4 in both Maths Extension 1 and Extension 2 — with an ATAR of 98.85, ranking top 5 in my cohort throughout high school.
I tutor Years 7–10 across Maths, English, and Science, as well as NAPLAN preparation for Years 7 and 9. The habits and foundational skills students build in junior school are what determine how well they cope in senior years — and I make sure every student I work with has those foundations locked in. My approach is patient, structured, and encouraging. I find where understanding breaks down and rebuild from there, at a pace that works for each individual student.
About the lesson:
Lessons are tailored to the student's current school work, upcoming assessments, and NAPLAN schedule, following the NSW curriculum throughout. Each session begins by identifying what the student needs most that week — an upcoming test, a tricky concept, or an assessment task.
Maths — Number and algebra, measurement and geometry, statistics, financial mathematics, and foundations for Advanced and Extension in senior years. NAPLAN Numeracy practice included for Years 7 and 9.
English — Essay and creative writing, reading comprehension, text analysis, language techniques, grammar, and persuasive writing. Written feedback provided on all student work. NAPLAN Reading, Writing, and Language Conventions preparation included for Years 7 and 9.
Science — Physical World (forces, energy, waves), Earth and Space, Living World (cells, genetics, ecosystems), and Chemical World (matter, reactions, periodic table).
NAPLAN Preparation — Targeted practice across all four NAPLAN test areas: Reading, Writing, Language Conventions, and Numeracy. I use past NAPLAN papers and teach students the specific strategies and time management skills needed to perform confidently on test day.
All teaching materials are prepared by me and customized per student. Lessons run 1–2 hours online, and students are welcome to bring any school material to work through together.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
Ray has been tutoring my son for the past two months and we've already seen a real difference in his attitude towards school and his results. As a parent, finding a tutor you can trust with your child is not easy — but Ray stood out from the start. He's punctual, well-prepared, and communicates clearly with both my son and myself about what they're working on each session. My son actually looks forward to his lessons, which says a lot. Ray is patient, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about helping students improve. We couldn't be happier and would highly recommend him to any parent looking for a reliable and effective tutor.

Cancellation & No-Show Policy:
No-Show 100% of the session rate applies if the student is not present within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time, with no prior notice given.
Late Cancellation (less than a day notice)
• Genuine emergency (illness, family crisis, etc.) — 0% charge, once per term as a goodwill waiver. Proof is required to qualify for the waiver (e.g. medical certificate for illness, or other reasonable supporting documentation for family/other emergencies). Without proof, the standard 100% charge applies. Subsequent emergencies: 100%.
• Low-effort reason (forgot, overslept, clash with something else) — 100% charge.
• No reason given — treated as no-show: 100%.
Short Notice Reschedule (< 24 hours)
If the student wants to reschedule rather than cancel, a 25% inconvenience fee applies — waived if the new session is booked within 48 hours.
Acceptable Cancellation (more than a day) No charge. Reschedule encouraged
Pattern Clause
A student may have no more than 2 consecutive late cancellations/no-shows, and no more than 3 total in a term. Only an attended session resets the consecutive count; the term total does not reset until term end. On the 3rd cancellation (consecutive or total), the full session rate applies regardless of reason — including genuine emergencies with proof.
