About TSUBASA

Hi, I’m Tsubasa (Jake)!
Yes, like Captain Tsubasa, but my field is language, not soccer.

I have consulted and trained over 100 people for their international job recruiting and language acquisition.

I leverage this experience as a Japanese tutor especially for the learners who:
- want to have 1 Japanese teacher who can run all the way together
- study Japanese but struggle in speaking
- are able to understand the context, but can’t express themselves smoothly
- are tired of feeling "almost there" and experiencing frustration.

Then I am the best match for you and I will help you to break through!

I’ve lived outside Japan for almost 20 years, Singapore, Australia, and now Thailand.
I’ve worked in international environments, trained professionals, and helped over 100 learners improve their communication.

But here’s the truth.

Even after years of studying and living abroad…
I couldn’t speak well.

I understood English.
But when I tried to talk, nothing came out.

I kept thinking:
“Even though I know many words and grammar, why can’t I express what I’m thinking?”

I know how frustrating that feels.

That’s why I don’t just teach the language.
When you are studying alone, it could be hard to identify the cause.

I will be there for you to break things down and solve them one by one.
It could be the grammar, vocabulary, learning speed, confidence, or even just expressing one Japanese word.
I assure you that after your first session with me, you will feel more confident to learn Japanese!

About the lesson

My lessons are not about being perfect.
The lesson is meant to be making progress every time.

Sometimes you might struggle, and that’s exactly where growth happens.
No worries, I will always support you when the moment comes!

In my lessons, you will:
- Practice real conversations (not only textbook Japanese)
- Learn expressions that native speakers actually use
- Get corrections that immediately improve your speaking
*Of course if you prefer having a comfortable, open conversation, we can do that too!
- Build confidence step by step

Outside of teaching, I work in recruitment and training.
My mission is to understand:
- people deeply
- their strengths
- struggles
- what’s holding them back.

So I don’t give the same lessons to everyone.
I create a learning approach and tailored curriculum that fits just for you.
