About Carly

Bonjour, Hola, Hello!

My name is Carly, and I am a Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) teacher originally from Baltimore, Maryland in the United States. I have over 14 years of experience teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in Spain and France, both in person and online. During this time, I have taught Business English, Cambridge First and Advanced exam preparation, and general conversational English.

Since summer 2025, I have been teaching French and Spanish to secondary school students in the UK, and will be awarded Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) at the end of July. I am passionate about language learning and enjoy teaching students of all ages and backgrounds.

Whether you are preparing for an exam, looking to improve your English/ French/ Spanish for work, or simply wanting to build your confidence in speaking the language, I would be delighted to help.

About the lesson

During our first lesson, we'll discuss your goals, how you learn best, and the pace that suits you. Using this information, I'll then create lessons tailored to your needs, interests, and learning style. I believe you should be at the centre of your learning journey, so if there are any activities you don't enjoy or if you'd prefer a different pace, please let me know—we'll adapt the lessons together.

My aim is to help you make steady progress at a pace that's right for you, while ensuring you feel encouraged, challenged, and supported throughout your learning. I also want to help you build strong foundations that will give you the confidence to continue developing your English independently. Above all, I want you to enjoy learning the language!

Lessons are available either online or at my home in Cambridge. I also offer a free 30-minute introductory session, giving us the opportunity to meet, discuss your goals, and see whether we're a good fit before you commit to lessons. If you're interested, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
