About Avery
A free trial lesson allows us to see how your current French skills align with your goals. The first 30 minutes are usually spent identifying exactly where you stumble. I use my academic training from York University to ensure every exercise targets specific gaps in your comprehension. We will walk through reading comprehension strategies or practice for the DELF or DALF exams as needed.
I find that building travel French skills is often the most rewarding way to start. We can also explore conversational fluency in a way that feels organic rather than scripted. Watching a student suddenly realize they can express a complex thought in French is incredibly rewarding. It is quite fun to see those lightbulb moments happen in real time.

Teenagers and hobbyists often feel that French is unreachable until they start working with me. My classroom is usually the place where anxiety turns into genuine curiosity.
I hold a Bachelor of Education in Second Language Teaching from York University. During my 8 years of experience, I have focused on how to make nasal sounds and liaison patterns feel natural for native English speakers.
My students include French immersion grads looking to polish their skills alongside adult learners just starting out. I enjoy helping people navigate the complexities of language without any unnecessary pressure.
