About Ajeet

I am a Data Scientist working for a US-based MNC. Earlier I was working for Tech Giant Infosys in its Research and Development unit. Currently heading an AI product at my present organization. The product employs cutting-edge Algorithms to solve client needs.

About the lesson

Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?
I teach Machine Learning, Data Science, and Python primarily but also have knowledge around SQL, NoSQL, Web development, and other similar technologies. I am a Data Scientist by profession and that is why whatever I teach comes from production environment experience and not from some books and video lectures. In my lectures, I primarily focus on creating real-world models/applications that are production ready and can be deployed. With years of experience, I have gained some insights about data and modeling which I try to pass on to my students. My interest in this field started when I was in school and I had C++ as an optional subject. From there I went to college where I was introduced to Python and its big wide world and then the journey started and is still going on.
What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?
With years of experience working in production environments, I have gained a lot of insights about data and modelling which I try to pass on to my students. And so learning something from experience and passing on that knowledge to someone is the biggest motivating factor for me to teach. Other than that I get to meet exciting and energetic people, some of whom are still in school while some of them are having kids who are in college. So meeting with new people and interacting with them is the second major motivation behind teaching for me.
How does your work help society?
When I started working in Machine Learning and Data Science I had a very hard time understanding the concepts since whatever was being taught in lectures was way different than what was actually used in the real world. After many years and lots of hard work, I was able to master the art of Artificial Intelligence and I feel that If I pass on my knowledge to someone and that someone goes on to do something great for the AI community as a whole then that's a big plus for the society. On top of that, a lot of people are afraid of Artificial intelligence and its applications and ramifications so by teaching as many people as I can about Artificial intelligence I can make people aware of Artificial intelligence so that Artificial intelligence can be accepted everywhere and then, in turn, it can change the lives of people for the greater good.
If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?
Andrew N.G. No doubt about that. He is the person responsible for teaching millions of people and making them aware of Artificial intelligence and thus bringing a lot of positive change to society. His contributions to society are tremendous. He is truly a role model and someone who should be followed. I have done a lot of Courses given by him on Coursera which are world-class and give in-depth knowledge about the subject. I try to emulate my teaching methodology around his style: some theory, lots of practicals.
Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.
I love to travel and I do that quite often. Apart from travel, I do love to hang out with my GSD Brutus.
Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?
Well, there will be many such. Let me tell you about one anecdote with one of my students. So I had this student once, before SuperProf, who was quite young that I knew but I really didn't ask in the beginning how young he actually is. So I started teaching him and gave him assignments and initially he started completing the assignments but as the difficulty increased his pace of completing assignments decreased. So I had to ask him if there is some problem with my methods or any other reason. So at that instance, he told me that earlier it was summer vacation for him and now his school has started. So I was surprised. A school student taking ML class? So I asked in which class he is. On that, he replied that he is in the 10th class. I was shocked by that. Not by the thing that he was in 10th standard but by the fact that a 10th standard boy is so eager to learn so much at this young age. And on top of that, he was able to learn and understand everything completely. Hats off to him.
I started taking on him easily from that day though.
