About Leah
Hi, I'm Leah and I am 12 years old and I tutor math and reading to children ages kindergarten - 3rd grade. (4th if its really needed) I am currently in 6th grade completing 8th grade to 9th grade math. I've always loved to help my peers out and teach them through lessons during 4th to 5th grade when my teacher wasn't able to. All of my teachers during this COVID- pandemic have been relying on me to help my peers out the most, which I have loved. Which is why I really wanted to start tutoring. I know it might seem a bit absurd to let a person my age (12) tutor children less then 4 years younger than me, but I'll tell you a bit about how I've gotten into tutoring. Ever since I was in kindergarten I've always been advanced in math and reading, but its not just that. I've always had a knack of being able to teach my peers in ways that they could understand very well. I personally think that I am able to teach children so well is because not so long ago I was there age. I've been through exactly what they are going through right now and I understand that we all have different ways to learn. My goal when I'm tutoring children is to yes, help them with academics, but also help them find the best way for them to learn.

I am 12 years old and I tutor general math and literacy from ages kindergarten to 3rd grade. In my lessons I really try to focus and understand how every child learns in a different way. During my calls I first will try different ways to teach and guide the person in the best way possible. I start with using a method of showing and drawing it out( Visual learning) , and then I go into talking them through the problem to make sure the interact with the math itself(Interactive learning) , and then I see if they need someone to just tell them how to do the problem and see if they can do it themselves (Show then try learning), lastly I try the method of the child teaching it to me. (teaching learning) All these methods are to help your child find their most effective way to learn. After the lesson I will most probably find the most effective ay your child learns and continue with that method.
