About Sophia
Pacing remains deliberate. Focus is paramount.
We begin by establishing a comfortable posture and refining your tuning by ear. I integrate my classical repertoire background to ensure that your double stops and shifting positions are technically sound. You will receive free bowing and posture reference notes after each lesson to keep your home practice productive.
Because I trained at the Schulich School of Music, I bring a rigorous eye for detail to every session. My goal is to translate complex orchestral techniques into manageable steps for your daily routine. It is a pleasure to see students find their voice.

Teaching provides a clear window into how different people process complex musical information. I maintain a studio in Calgary where I instruct violinists ranging from casual hobbyists to those pursuing formal RCM exams.
My work with a leading Canadian chamber ensemble informs how I demonstrate intonation and shifting positions. Having logged 13 years of experience, I know how to explain spiccato and staccato bowing to teens and intermediate players alike. I emphasize physical mechanics for students who are self-taught and seeking a solid foundation.
My degree from the Schulich School of Music at McGill anchors my technical approach to scales and arpeggios. Sharing the nuances of musical growth is genuinely gratifying work for me.
