I am writing on behalf of Silvana Navarete, who has worked with Global Glimpse as our Program Coordinator of our Constanza program in the Dominican Republic from March through August, 2019. Global Glimpse provides life-changing global education programs to students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. High school students from US public schools travel to developing countries in groups of 20-25 students for 2-3 weeks to expand their global perspectives through experiential learning and critical reflection.
Silvana contributed her skills to the Program Coordinator role, in which she planned, coordinated and executed educational activities for over 70 youth and their chaperone teachers in three consecutive 16-day visits, which included live interpreting between English and Spanish, facilitating seminars and reflection sessions with students, as well as providing emergency and preventative health care. Silvana particularly excelled in launching and managing a successful English Tutoring program with a new partner school, in which the visiting students from the US taught classes three times per week to over 60 local students. Silvana taught our young visitors how to teach English and managed the pre and post evaluation process and student registrations throughout the 3 month course, along with all of her other responsibilities of managing program logistics.

Silvana embodied the three pillars of our organization; compassion, commitment and courage when faced with challenging situations and a true passion for developing the leadership skills of those around her in a professional context that tested her resilience. I grew tremendously from being her manager and our organization benefited from her contributions. I would hire and promote her again if given the opportunity.
