About Garrett
My experience as a swimmer gives me an appreciation for the discipline and commitment required to develop genuine ability in the water, while my experience as a certified instructor has taught me how to transfer that knowledge to different types of learners. I understand that knowing a technique myself does not automatically mean I can teach it effectively. A good instructor needs patience, communication, observation and the ability to recognize what a particular swimmer needs at that moment. That is something I have developed through years of practical experience. Whether I am helping someone become comfortable putting their face underwater, refining the stroke of an experienced swimmer or preparing an athlete for greater endurance, I adapt my approach accordingly. I want students to feel that they are learning from someone who understands both the physical demands of swimming and the emotions that can accompany learning something new.

My lessons are structured so that progress is something you experience, not something you are simply told about. We begin with skills you can manage, strengthen them through guided practice, and gradually introduce situations that require greater confidence and decision-making. I pay attention to the small improvements because they often become the foundation for major breakthroughs. A technique that felt awkward during one lesson may suddenly become natural several sessions later. I want you to recognize those moments and feel proud of them. Rather than rushing through a fixed programme, I adjust the lesson according to how you are developing. If you need more practice, we take the time; if you are ready for more, we move forward. Every session therefore has a purpose, and every achievement becomes part of a larger journey toward genuine independence.
