About Deborah

Hello! My name is Deborah Awe and I am a first year med student at University of Sheffield. I have been playing the Piano for 16 years, and over time have developed a strong bond and love for the instrument. I achieved my Grade 8 Piano in year 10, and in recent years have been working towards my Piano Diploma.
I have been to various Piano competitions across the UK, and have played with the best pianists in not only the UK, but also the world.
I decided to start teaching the Piano as i wanted to give back to the community that gave everything to me, and provide others with the same opportunities that have been awarded to me. In my own experience I've had excellent tutors and teachers in school - and i appreciate how much their support and guidance have contributed to my growth. These teachers and tutors would listen to me and provide me with constructive feedback, qualities I now display when when I teach and tutor.
Not only this, but i want to engage and inspire others to take on this beautiful instrument that has taken the world by storm since its arrival in the 17th Century.
I hope to give my students the best teaching experience possible.

About the lesson

I strive to make my lessons engaging and fun - i like to start my lesson by really understanding the students strengths and weaknesses, or what they do or don't already know. This allows me to be able to focus on the areas that they struggle with, nipping the problem in the bud.
My lessons usually last between 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the time that has been requested by the student - I am happy to alternate the time length especially towards exam time where they might need more guidance or help.
I have taught both my sisters the piano, with one currently on grade 7, and the other just recently passed her grade 4 with distinction under my tutoring. I strive to bring out the best results from my students, as practice only makes perfect!
My lessons are targeted more towards beginners (people under grade 5) as I understand how challenging it can be to find the right person to really kickstart your passion on the Piano
