Sifu Alfred: Traditional Southern Dragon Kung Fu & Tai Chi
Preserving the Lineage. Forging the Body and Mind.
I am not a commercial fitness trainer; I am a guardian of traditional Chinese martial arts. My personal training journey began in 1984, giving me four decades of unbroken, dedicated practice. For the past 30 years, I have had the distinct honor of teaching and passing down these battle-tested systems to students from all walks of life.
My Kwoon (school) focuses on the true, unwatered-down mechanics of two distinct but complementary paths:
The Explosive Path (Lung Ying / Southern Dragon Fist): A highly pragmatic, close-quarters Southern Shaolin Martial Art combat system designed for raw power, heavy bridge mechanics, and reality-based self-defense.
The Internal Path (Tai Chi & Qi Gong): A deep study of yielding structure, joint mobility, moving meditation, and lifelong vitality. We also offer advanced traditional weapons training (Butterfly Swords, Straight Sword, and Tai Chi Fan).
Traditional Weapons: Butterfly Swords, Tai Chi Straight Sword, and the Tai Chi Fan and a library of traditional kung fu weapons.
My Teaching Philosophy: My approach is traditional, strict, and deeply patient. You do not need prior martial arts experience to train with me. Everyone is bad at it in the beginning. I only care about your dedication. I will meet you exactly where you are, but I will not lower the standard of the lineage. My instruction focuses heavily on structural root, precise body mechanics, and forging a calm, disciplined mind.
Training Options: I offer highly personalized 1-on-1 private instruction and small group classes. Training is available both.
Globally Online via live, interactive Zoom sessions.
Locally In-Person for dedicated students in the Los Angeles (Vermont Square) area.
