About Devi

I am a focused and enthusiastic psychology tutor, holding a Master's in Counselling and Psychotherapy, with broad teaching experience as both a university lecturer and clinical educator. The core of my teaching philosophy is to ensure that students receive a supportive, engaging, personalised learning environment, which allows them to apply rather than simply learn about psychological theories in a real-world context. Over the years, through university teaching and clinical supervision, I have cultivated a sense of adaptability to the individual learning needs of each student. I am committed to helping students build both their academic and practical skills, equipping them with the confidence and competence required for success in psychology. This ensures that, as a Fellow of Higher Education, my teaching benefits the highest pedagogical standards to make the learning environment dynamic and inclusive, so each student feels encouraged to explore, question, and grow towards realising their full potential in achieving their academic and professional aspirations in psychology.

About the lesson

Teaching Methodology: My approach is to make complex psychological concepts both understandable and interesting. I combine interactive discussions, case studies, real-life applications, and practical exercises in a manner that coincides with the theoretical content. This ensures that the students understand the key concepts and also develop the reasoning and problem-solving skills necessary in psychology. I also structure each lesson according to individual learning styles of my students, whether they are a visual, auditory, or kinaesthetic learner.

Lesson Length: Most lessons can last anywhere between 60-90 minutes. This can be an appropriate amount of time to deeply discuss topics at hand and still keep the materials digestible and interesting for the learner. In that time, I will accommodate time for questions, discussion, and review of key points to help reinforce learning.

Qualifications & Experience: I have a Master's in Counselling and Psychotherapy, with considerable experience as a university lecturer. My clinical teaching experience enables me to bridge the gap between theory and practice, enabling students(L6-L8) to appreciate how psychological principles come alive in real-world applications. I am also a Fellow of Higher Education and certified clinical supervisor, ensuring that my teaching and supervision adheres to best practices in pedagogy. Published an academic paper on team based active teaching pedagogy which i had applied in my teaching practice for cardio-respiratory modules. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with diverse students, helping them excel in both academic settings and clinical practice. I continuosly hone my CPD with many teaching and research training /courses including Team based Asyncronous teaching, Instruction methods in health profession teaching, Case analysis, etc. I hone my teaching and communication skills through my passionate professional exchange in my YouTube channel @BreathThrivewithDevi through public and population health information to communities.
