About Cal
About Me
Advanced Student, Coder, & Professional Mistake-Fixer
Hi! I’m Cal. I’m an nerdy 13-year-old student, maker, and tech enthusiast who loves turning confusing school subjects into things that actually make sense.
The Academic Stuff
I track 2 years ahead in math and have already fully conquered 9th-grade Algebra. I’m also highly advanced in ELA, meaning I can read long books without falling asleep and write essays that actually score A's. Because I just learned these topics myself, I still remember exactly how annoying they can be—and I know the shortcuts to bypass the confusion.
The Geeky Stuff (My Favorites)When I'm not doing schoolwork, I’m usually breaking or fixing things.
1.Coding & 3D Printing: I love writing code and watching plastic melt into 3D realities.
2. Hack Club: I’m a member of this global community of young makers and hackers. This means I don't just teach students to memorize formulas. I teach them to think like a programmer—which is just a fancy way of saying "how to debug your homework."
Why You Should Learn With Me!
Let’s be honest: adult teachers are great, but they sometimes speak a totally different language. As a peer tutor, I bridge that gap. I offer a stress-free, high-energy environment where students can ask "silly" questions, make mistakes, and realize that math and writing don't have to be boring and stressful!

Hi! My name is Cal. As an advanced 13-year-old student who has already mastered 9th-grade Algebra and high-level ELA, I offer something adult teachers cannot: a fresh, peer-to-peer perspective. I just conquered these exact topics myself. Because of this, I know the exact mental traps students fall into and how to bypass them using easy, relatable language.
Teaching Method & Techniques
The "Explain-to-a-Peer" Method: I don't just lecture. I teach a concept, and then have the student explain it back to me. This locks the information into their long-term memory.Visual Frameworks: I break down complex algebraic equations and multi-paragraph essays into simple, step-by-step visual roadmaps.
Stress-Free Environment
I eliminate the intimidation factor. Students feel comfortable making mistakes around me, which is exactly how real learning happens.
Typical 60-Minute Lesson Plan
Minutes 1–10: The Warm-Up: Reviewing the previous lesson or checking school homework to spot any lingering gaps. Minutes 10–30: Concept Breakdown: Introducing the day's core topic (e.g., solving systems of equations or structuring a thesis statement) using clear, real-world examples. Minutes 30–50: Guided Execution: Solving problems together. We slowly transition from me leading to the student taking full control. Minutes 50–60: Mastery Check & Recap: The student completes one final solo challenge to prove they own the concept, followed by a quick summary of their wins.
