My goal has always been to pinpoint where students are struggling. I do this with a question spreadsheet that I will share with you before our first lesson. I consult this spreadsheet for any specific questions or concepts that you have so I can answer them in the next meeting. Even if nothing is written in the question log, I will find example questions for you to try out. Whenever you're unable to answer a question, I will guide you through it. You may be wondering; what if I forget what I learned? Do not worry; I will keep track of what concepts we go through every meeting in a slideshow that I will share with you after each lesson. That way, you will always have something to look back to!
I am a recent high-school graduate from Markham who will be attending the University of Waterloo for Chemical Engineering starting Fall 2020. I have much education-related experience, including having been a teaching assistant in a 1st- and 2nd-grade class in a Mandarin summer school when I was in grade 8. In grade 11, I peer tutored two MPM2D (grade 10 math) students, and in grade 12, I peer tutored an SPH3U (grade 11 physics) student and an MCR3U (grade 11 functions) student. If my experience has not yet spoken for itself, my dedication does. My grades and academic achievements demonstrate that I strive for academic excellence.
My first lesson is free only after two or more lessons have been planned. Otherwise, the first lesson will be charged.
Hello there! My name is Susan and I am a University of Waterloo Chemical Engineering student in my 1A term! I am providing math tutoring from kindergarten to grade 12, and high school science tutoring excluding grade 12 biology and physics.
If you are not already convinced that I will be an excellent tutor based on my extensive teaching and tutoring experience, my grades and academic awards may persuade you:
- I graduated high school with an overall average of 98%
- I obtained the highest overall grade in 6 courses in grade 11
- I won two University of Waterloo Certificates of Distinction (Cayley and Fermat)
- I obtained the 67th highest score on the 2019 University of Waterloo Avogadro Exam in Canada and the USA
Of course, academics is not the entire story. I also participated in numerous extra-curricular activities throughout high school. For example,
- I was the iOS developer of my school's app development team
- I was the treasurer of my school's social justice committee
- I worked as a server at a Chinese restaurant
- and more!
As you can imagine, it takes a lot of dedication to be able to maintain high grades while partaking in extracurricular activities. But that's great, because I will put the same amount of dedication into making sure you understand every concept you have ever been taught. Two students have chosen me to be their tutor already, and you should too.
Perfect! Susan is really a very good tutor. Each lesson is well organized and informative. Thank you for her passion and dedication to teaching.
Lawrence's son, Martin, is a very intelligent, dedicated individual. Martin has always listened attentively to lessons and could understand nearly every concept that I taught him. Martin knows to ask questions when he needs help and completes some of the optional homework that I assign him. He is a pleasure to tutor!
