About Eden
I'm Eden, a graduate of Amherst College with a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Political Science. My academic background is rooted in analytical writing and rigorous critical thinking, skills I now bring directly into my tutoring.
I scored near-perfect on the ACT, and over time I've come to see standardized tests less as obstacles and more as puzzles with a discoverable internal logic. That perspective shapes how I teach: I focus on helping students understand why an answer works, not just memorize that it does, so they leave every session more confident and capable, not just better rehearsed.
I also spent three years working as a litigation paralegal, where I sharpened my skills in logical reasoning, argument construction, and precise writing on a daily basis. That professional experience, combined with my academic training, gives me a practical, real-world understanding of how strong arguments are built and how clear writing gets results.
Outside of test prep, I love working with students on English and writing, helping them sharpen their arguments, tighten their prose, and think more clearly on the page. I approach every lesson with patience, structure, and genuine enthusiasm for the subject, and I take real satisfaction in watching students realize they're capable of more than they thought.

Hi, I'm Eden. I teach ACT prep, SAT prep, English, and writing using an analytical, logic-first method rather than rote memorization. My background in philosophy trained me to break arguments down to their core structure — I apply that same skill to standardized tests, showing students the underlying logic behind question types so they can recognize patterns and reason through unfamiliar problems, not just recall memorized tricks.
I focus on teaching the "why" behind every answer. For test prep, this means dissecting how ACT and SAT questions are designed, identifying common traps, and building a repeatable reasoning process students can apply to any passage or problem. For English and writing, I emphasize clear argumentation, structure, and revision — treating writing as a form of applied logic and persuasion.
A typical session starts with reviewing recent practice work to identify specific error patterns. From there, we target the underlying skill or logic gap — whether that's a grammar rule, a reading strategy, or an essay structure issue — through guided practice and worked examples. We close with a short set of problems or a writing exercise applying what we covered, plus a clear plan for what to work on before the next session.
I bring a near-perfect ACT score and a philosophy degree from Amherst College, which means I don't just know the material — I understand how these tests are built to test reasoning, and I teach students to think like the test-makers. My strength is in analytical writing and thought, so I'm especially effective at helping students who need to sharpen logical reasoning, essay construction, and critical reading skills, not just memorize facts.
These lessons are ideal for high school students preparing for the ACT or SAT, as well as students at any level looking to strengthen English and academic writing skills — particularly those who benefit from a structured, logic-driven approach rather than repetitive drilling.
