About Sanjana

Hi there, my name is Sanjana and I am a RIBA award winning 22 year old Central St Martins architecture student from London and an artist. I like to say that I live, eat and breathe art and anything related to art; this passion of mine is a full time job. I have been making art since I was young and the curiosity and passion has only grown further and deeper.

I have 2 years worth of experience teaching children from the ages of 5-15 in an art club local to me, which has really helped me to understand how to approach students of a variety of ages and skill level. I hold strength in helping students achieve their short term and long term goals through a structured yet fun and flexible manner.

Having worked in teams at school with my peers and implementing all the art skills and techniques such as painting (oils, acrylics, watercolour, ink), drawing (charcoal, graphite) and other mixed media (clay sculpture, cardboard sculpture, paper crafts, sewing, photography, yarn crafts, video production, jewellery making), I believe that my skills and flares for all these creative topics are very well informed due to consistent practice, dedication and persistence. Over the past few years I have invested a great deal of my time in developing all these skills, which have been possible mainly due to my passion towards everything that requires the need for a creative eye, and perseverance through the challenges and difficulties that arise with each project.

The fields I am strongest in are oil painting, graphite and charcoal drawings and sculpture, but I have a very open and curious mind, with which I am always willing to experiment with new ways of thinking and work with whatever challenge is brought upon the student. I believe that my present and enthusiastic nature, as well as caring and considerate demeanour will be very valuable for the student and I hope to aid in encouraging people with the insight on art that I hold and help them to broaden their repertoire of skills and show them that they can make good art!

I am very attentive to people’s ideas and love sharing my deep passion for art to other people. I am excited about the opportunity to be surrounded by budding artists! Driven by an innate sense of curiosity, I love listening to innovative ideas from others, and likewise, love sharing my ideas and bouncing off others’ creative imaginations too. I enjoy teaching and helping others as much as I love making art, so you can wholly trust that I will always be here as a positive and encouraging source of support regardless.

About the lesson

I believe that anyone can make good art with consistent effort and a positive growth mindset. My teaching method fully integrates the practice of the arts with positive reinforcement, consistent support and encouragement as I believe that with these elements does true and fulfilling progress sustain. I adjust my teaching approach to what the student’s needs are and help them each step of the way to achieve their artistic goals. I encourage students to keep practicing their drawing skills outside of the hourly sessions and I am always here for extra support and feedback whenever they need it. We will use drawing as the foundation for all other art mediums as I know for myself that without knowing the fundamentals of drawing I wouldn’t have been able to develop the skillset I have today.
Having been through the process of the reformed education curriculum and achieving a grade 9 at GCSE (2018) and an A at A-Level (2020), I have a great understanding of how to achieve top grades in Art and Design. I am here for support and guidance through both the practical elements of the qualification as well as the theoretical and written work.
My classes are such that the student is in the drivers seat and I sit by them, showing them the way forward. The class environment is no less than absolute fun and supportive and my main aim is for the student to completely immerse and enjoy themselves in the wonderful world of art and design!
I welcome any student of any age. All that is required is yourself and an enthusiasm for art! :)
