About Oskar

Oskar Laffont is an academy-trained artist, award-winning filmmaker, and master instructor educated at Central Saint Martins and the London Film School. Conceptualizing his approach as Neo-Renaissance, Oskar fuses classical Old Master techniques with contemporary media, bringing rigorous technical grounding to painters of all skill levels.
Formerly the Head of the Painting Department at the Palos Verdes Art Center, Oskar brings decades of professional teaching experience to his mentorship. He has designed and led comprehensive courses, intensive activations, and community workshops spanning oil painting, portraiture, life drawing, acrylics, and botanical art. Whether guiding students through classical glazing and light modulation or helping them develop a distinct personal voice, his instruction prioritizes hands-on mastery, deep artistic rigor, and an empowering, accessible approach to fine art.

About the lesson

As a painting teacher with a decade of experience with comprehensive mastery across portraiture, human anatomy, life drawing, botanical art, and landscapes working across mediums like oils, pastels, and watercolors, I offer students a rare depth of technical foundation. I do not just teach the mechanics of rendering form, light, and precision; I cultivate the complete artist.
My approach integrates classical technique with a holistic, sustainable lifestyle practice. I guide students to treat art not as an occasional burst of effort, but as an enduring visual language and a grounded daily discipline. By learning to observe deeply, respect their medium, and harmonize technical skill with creative presence, my students discover how to sustain a vibrant, lifelong artistic journey without burnout.
