About Alexandra

I am an experienced Trumpet and Piano player and teacher. I have been teaching for almost 8 years now.

As the BBC young Jazz musician of the year in 2016, I am currently in my 2nd year Masters at the Manhattan school of Music on a full scholarship, having done my undergraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London, studying the Jazz Trumpet. I also did an exchange year in Miami at the Frost School of music. I regularly perform around London, the rest of the UK and Europe with my own bands and as part of other groups in many different festivals, venues etc.

I have got a lot of teaching experience in many different forms, all contributing to my well informed and well rounded approach. I have taught many students of all ages 1 on 1 and I have run many workshops focusing on both classical and jazz for all instruments. This has often been through the National youth Jazz orchestra and through the National Youth Jazz collective and many other organisations.

I am very versatile, and happy to teach all ages and abilities about the trumpet, classical or jazz and Improvisation for any instrument. Below is my resume.

MUSICAL HIGHLIGHTS
Was crowned the winner of the BBC Young Musician Jazz Award 2016 and noted in
‘The shape of jazz to come: who to look out for in 2018’ in Jazzwise magazine And noted for performance at FONT in New York City Radio Magazine
In 2018 won The British Jazz Awards ‘Rising Star’ category.
In October 2019 was named one of ‘London’s Most Influential People’ under 25 and was a Parliamentary Jazz Awards nominee in 2020.
Recently went on European Tour with the Grammy nominated, Blue Note signed all star band Artemis. Performed in Europe with award winning pianist Pablo Held and
often with star bass player Orlando Le Fleming’s band ‘Romantic Funk’, Awarded the Laurie Frink US career grant 2022, performed with legendary saxophonist Dayna Stephens’ ‘Combo Deluxe’ band, invited as a featured performer in the New York Festival of Trumpet Music (FONT) in September 2022, performed with ECM artist Kit Downes, world renowned drummer Jason Brown and was chosen for the JEN Sisters in Jazz Collegiate Combo 2021. Has twice performed at the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert hall.
Released debut EP ‘Remote Duets’ in 2020. Has featured on many albums. Fronts own Quintet, recently recorded debut album.

About the lesson

I always aim for my students to feel encouraged and motived in the most natural yet manageable way possible. I am aware of how important it is to have a teacher that is a role model as well as someone you can trust to be yourself, make mistakes and find what it is that inspires you the most. Ive been lucky enough to have some truly inspirational and influential teachers that have changed my life in so many ways, and I really strive to be that kind of mentor. Being positive and inspiring is my fundamental concept.
