About Mark
I am a screenwriter and sometime director. I have written and directed two feature films and I have written for studios in the UK and USA. I also have a background in theatre having started a theatre company when I first moved to London. I have written, directed and produced close to 100 productions at theatre all over London.
I want to teach because I think writing seems like an inaccessible activity that really isn't. It is one of the few activities that anyone can do anywhere, anytime and, when done well, it can have such an impact. On the writer, the reader or the world. People see it as difficult, something other that only a select few can do but that isn't true. Everyone has a story that only they can tell. I would like to give that person the tools and confidence to write it.

I have a flexible methodology that I will tailor to each student depending on their needs. My aim is to help a student learn the basics of screen and stage writing while also encouraging and guiding them to find their voices and personality as writers.
Writing is a difficult craft that relies heavily on talent and technique. My aim would be to teach technique whilst encouraging talent. I am a great believer in positive reinforcement and honesty.
Through my 15 years as a professional writer I have encountered every type of director, critic and teacher and I have learned that it is those that want you to succeed that are the best teachers.
There are few geniuses in the world but almost everyone can write once given the correct tools. Tools that are different for everyone. My job is to help discover which tools the student needs and to guide them in implementing them.
