About Gevindjyot

I’m the founder of Toor Tutoring and a BSc Mathematical Economics and Statistics student at the University of Birmingham, currently achieving well above a first class grade in my degree. I specialise in high quality, exam focused tutoring for students from primary school through to GCSE and A Level, including SATs, 11 plus, Maths, English and Economics.

What makes my tutoring different is that every student receives support built around them as an individual. I do not use generic worksheets or one size fits all lesson plans. I identify each student’s weaknesses, exam board, target grade, confidence gaps and learning style, then create tailored lessons, homework, revision booklets, practice papers and exam resources designed specifically for that student.

With over four years of tutoring experience, I have supported students across a wide range of ages, abilities and learning needs, including students who benefit from more structured, patient and confidence building support. I am DBS checked and aim to make every lesson clear, organised, supportive and genuinely productive.

Parents choose Toor Tutoring because the service goes beyond a standard one hour lesson. Students receive a personalised academic support system, with targeted teaching, carefully designed resources, regular homework and clear feedback on what needs to improve next. My goal is simple: to help each student become more confident, more independent and more prepared for their exams.

About the lesson

Every student begins with a clear diagnostic review so I can understand their current level, confidence, weaknesses, exam board, target grade and learning style. From there, I build a personalised tutoring plan instead of using generic worksheets or one size fits all lesson structures.

Each lesson is designed around the individual student. For younger learners, I focus on building strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, confidence and independent thinking through clear explanation, active practice and engaging tasks. For GCSE, 11 plus, SATs and A Level students, lessons become more exam focused, with targeted teaching, exam style questions, mark scheme technique, timed practice and structured revision.

What makes Toor Tutoring different is the level of preparation outside the lesson. I create bespoke homework, revision booklets, practice questions, exam board specific guides, practice papers and feedback sheets based on what each student personally needs to improve. This means students are not just receiving a lesson; they are receiving a full academic support system built around their weaknesses and goals.

I also keep parents informed with clear feedback on progress, areas for improvement and the next steps. My lessons are organised, supportive and highly focused, with the aim of helping every student become more confident, more disciplined and better prepared for exams.

My rates reflect the fact that Toor Tutoring is not a generic one hour lesson service. Each student receives tutoring built around their individual weaknesses, exam board, target grade and learning style. Lessons may include personalised homework, bespoke revision resources, exam style questions, practice papers, feedback sheets and parent progress updates where appropriate.

The first free session is a 30 minute consultation used to understand the student’s needs, current level, goals and the best plan of support. It is not a full teaching lesson.

Online lessons are charged at a slightly reduced rate. Face to face lessons may include a travel fee depending on location. Lesson packages are available for families who want consistent weekly support and a clear long term improvement plan.

For students preparing for SATs, 11 plus, GCSEs or A Levels, I strongly recommend regular weekly lessons so that progress can be tracked properly and resources can be tailored over time.
