About Mathéo
I am a Grade 10 student in Alberta with a strong passion for mathematics and a genuine enjoyment of helping younger students understand it. I scored 98% on the Alberta Grade 9 math PAT, placed first in my school at the Gauss Mathematics Competition, and received an award at the Alberta High School Mathematics Competition — so you can trust that I know the material inside and out.
I attend school in French and am fully bilingual, which means I can explain concepts in whichever language your child is most comfortable in. This is especially useful for French immersion students who struggle to find a qualified bilingual tutor.
Beyond academics, I am actively involved in school sports and extracurriculars, so I understand firsthand how to balance a busy schedule while staying on top of schoolwork. I also hold a babysitting certificate and CPR certification.
My approach is simple: I find exactly where a student is stuck, explain it a different way, and make sure they can solve it on their own before we move on. My goal is not just better grades — it is genuine confidence in math that lasts.

Every session starts with a quick check-in to find exactly where the confusion is — because fixing the right problem is more important than just reviewing everything. From there I work through the concept step by step, focusing on the reasoning behind each method, not just the procedure. I want students to understand why an answer works, not just memorize how to get it.
A typical session looks like this: we identify the gap, I explain it clearly, we work through examples together, and then the student tries it independently while I guide them. By the end of every session, the student should be able to solve that type of problem on their own.
Because I recently completed the Grade 4 to 9 Alberta curriculum myself, I know exactly where students get stuck and what teachers expect to see on tests and PATs. I scored 98% on the Alberta Grade 9 math PAT, so exam preparation is something I take seriously and do well.
All sessions are conducted online and are available fully in English or French — whichever works best for your child.
