About Marisela

The reason I love teaching Spanish, is for a few key reasons. Firstly, because I have a Master ́s degree program in Linguistics applied to Spanish Foreign Language Teaching. Part of this program entailed an internship where I was teaching Spanish (in person) at a Spanish language school in Bilbao, Spain. This is where I got my experience teaching Spanish to A1, A2, and B1 students. However, I first started teaching languages about four years ago where I was an English language assistant at a bilingual school, where I was working with kids ages 10-18 in Seville, Spain. Since the pandemic hit, my focus shifted to the Master ́s degree program that was based in Madrid, Spain and to teaching English and Spanish classes online to children as well as adults; the companies I worked for were mainly based in China, Japan, and Brazil.
I am currently living in Northern Italy (Padua). Therefore, I am currently learning Italian with an A1-A2 level. For this reason, I am becoming very aware of how it feels to learn a new language and it has made me even more compassionate for new learners that I may encounter when I teach.
This brings me to my third reason for being interested in working with your company, this reason is that I absolutely am passionate about languages! As I mentioned, I am in the process of learning a new foreign language myself, and I am experiencing how beneficial it is to me personally and how it can even be life changing.
Therefore, this brings me to my final point; I would like to share this experience with others! I was lucky to be born into a bi-lingual household because it has opened the doors for me even from a young age to study abroad and travel to Spanish speaking countries. For this reason, I would love to share my: language, education, and cultural knowledge with my students so that they too can broaden their horizons and explore different routes in their lives, as well as meet new people. I hope to be able to help my future students with their personal goals, whether they want to learn the language for: personal fulfillment, studying abroad, or for business and professional reasons.

About the lesson

My didactic methodology has as a priority, to simplify the teaching of foreign languages for students using the most current knowledge in language teaching. As a starting point, I always take into account the group of students in my class before designing the classes, also for me it is a priority to have communication and contact with my fellow teachers to understand the best way to proceed with the curriculum and course programming. It is important to recognize approaches that include task- based activities, the use of cognitive grammar to explain common grammatical problems in students, the application of authentic materials in the classroom, gamification in the classroom, and an important emphasis on the communicative approach in the classroom. In addition, I have applied some materials that I created, to my classes and it is something that I am always willing to continue doing. In my university research, I specialized in the formation of Spanish in heritage speakers. I proposed extensive literature as a didactic tool in the classroom that helps develop vocabulary and grammar acquisition in students.
