About Christine Soniya
I have had a lot of experience (3+ years’ worth) in teaching students Chemistry and Biology at a
tuition centre and also private one-to-one tuition from home. My students have received excellent
grades (the home student achieved an A* for AQA biology and A for iGCSE chemistry Edexcel) as a
result of both the standard of teaching and their contribution towards learning. I have also had a
years’ worth of experience in teaching AS and A level Biology at nearby, well-known tuition centre. I
have had experience teaching both AQA and OCR at A level standard so I can adapt my teaching style
to whatever the student’s exam board is. Both my degrees had and have a significant amount of
Biology integrated within the topics so I am constantly learning about the new evolving disciplines within Biology which are not generally taught within the school syllabus. I believe this extra knowledge can help the student develop an
opinionated mindset of worldly affairs. I have also completed exams for iGCSE a couple years back, achieving 3 a* in the sciences and therefore familiar with the exams and specification. I tutor the new specification in Bio and Chem so
I am aware of the new content and topics. I have also given scientific presentations at higher
education events which meant that I had to keep up with evolution of science in general. I also
studied at a private school from year 7-11 and I understand the pressure to succeed with As and A*.

Repetition is key to memorising. Memorising is key to intelligence, and therefore Aceing any, and all, exams.
Making notes and using colours/highlighters is a successful way of remembering what is being written/learnt.
For younger students, it is important to keep them engaged by regularly asking them questions and keep them thinking. Younger students can easily lose focus. As a tutor, it is our responsibility to keep them motivated. I have several methods of doing so and one of them includes implementing a reward scheme.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
Christine worked along side me in a busy Cardiology department at Hammersmith hospital while she was a student completing her placement. She was involved in the treatment of patients suffering from multiple types of cardiac illnesses such as a heart attack. Working in such a field one has to have a high level of education in the medical/science field and must be able to make decisions that are best for the patient, remain calm and collected and act quick on her feet. Christine learnt a lot while working here and used her knowledge to teach a wide variety of younger students. Christine has experience in teaching both GCSE and A-level students science related subjects and has peer mentored while at university to teach fellow students cardiology. One of Christine's strongest positives is her ability to adapt to the students learning style and to remain patient.
Christine is a very knowledgeable person who does what she can to teach difficult concepts and succeeds. She is very persevering in terms of teaching scientific concepts at university, especially if there were holes in knowledge that require some filling.
She is also very hard-working and conscientious with any exams or coursework.View more recommendations
