About Mia
Hi! My name is Mia. I’m a Grade 8 student in a French Immersion program, and English is my first language. I currently hold the highest overall grade in my class, and I enjoy helping younger students feel more confident—especially in math. I have experience working with kids through volunteering at the Bowmanville Figure Skating Club, where I helped young children learn how to skate. I also babysit and tutor my two younger siblings, which has taught me patience, creativity, and how to explain things in a way that makes sense to kids of different ages. Outside of school, I’m a competitive swimmer, and I also do figure skating, dance, gymnastics, and piano. I’ve completed 4 RCM piano exams with First Class Honors with Distinction (90%+). I bring the same dedication and energy to tutoring—making every session friendly, fun, and supportive!

How I Run My Tutoring Lessons –
My lessons are designed to be fun, supportive, and tailored to each student’s needs. I focus on helping kids from SK to Grade 8 build confidence in math by explaining concepts clearly and working through problems step by step.
What My Lessons Include:
Homework help and reviewing what they’re learning in school
Extra practice with tricky topics like multiplication, fractions, word problems, etc.
Games and hands-on activities to keep younger students engaged
️ Study tips and strategies to help them become more independent learners
Progress check-ins to celebrate improvements and boost confidence
Where and How:
Sessions are 1-on-1, either in person at the library (Bowmanville or Courtice ON) or online via Zoom
I use a whiteboard, math worksheets, and simple visuals to keep things clear and interactive
Lessons are typically 30 to 60 minutes, depending on age and focus level.
