About Hansa
Greetings students and parents!
I’m Hansa Tennakoon, a high-achieving recent graduate from Brisbane Grammar School who received an unadjusted ATAR of 98.90, roughly placing me in the top 1.1% of the 27,778 QCE graduates in the 2023 cohort.

Awards/Scholarships
• Attended Brisbane Grammar School on academic scholarship after passing scholarship entrance exam in 2017
• Received scholarship entry at Brisbane State High School after passing scholarship entrance exam in 2016
• Admission to QASMT following completion of the Brilliant Futures Program
• Received general merit awards every year in high school, an award rewarded to the top 10% of academic performers in the BGS cohort each year
• Dux awards (top grade in the cohort) in Chinese language studies (2021) and economics (2023) at BGS.
Co-curricular engagements/student leadership
Beyond academic domains, I have actively participated in team-oriented sports such as cricket and basketball, the latter of which I still play to this day. This year, I am looking forward to returning to BGS as a basketball coach, where I will be able to demonstrate my ability to empathise with, communicate and work effectively with younger cohorts.
I possessed the role of year 7 form senior at BGS, serving as a mentor/role model to year 7s throughout 2023. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and not only grew myself as a mentor, teacher and leader, but also significantly appreciated the opportunity to provide guidance to younger cohorts.

For tutoring, the first session can be admitted at a discounted rate of $30 for the first hour. Enjoy a discounted trial to experience my personalised tutoring firsthand and see if it is right for you!
• Primary – year 10: Individual and group tutoring for English, maths, chemistry, biology, science, history and economics.
• Primary – year 12: Individual and group tutoring for economics and biology.
• Primary – year 12: Individual assignment help, proofreading, editing and conferencing services.
• Primary – year 12: provision of available notes and past high-grade assignments for aforementioned subjects.
I also tutor students preparing for high school scholarship entrance exams for schools such as Brisbane Grammar School and Brisbane State High School. This service consists of lessons in mathematics, reading comprehension, writing, and abstract reasoning. Having passed these scholarship entrance exams myself, my experience will be of utmost help to students who wish to achieve entrance into these prestigious Brisbane high schools.
All sessions can be conducted online, or possibly in person (contact for inquiries). I charge a competitive $40/hr for primary tutoring, $45/hr for high school tutoring and $35 for full assignment help!
Something unique about myself you won’t find commonly amongst similarly high-achieving students is that I never in fact utilised private tutoring as a student throughout my academic journey. Rather, I commonly found myself teaching myself and working diligently to learn by myself, reflecting my positive attitude toward learning and education. Using such skills, I commonly found myself providing significant assistance to peers in the form of assignment help and general teaching of concepts and questions.
With my positive attitude towards learning and proficient, experienced communication skills, I can break down complex concepts into more digestible, understandable ideas for anyone to learn and understand. I am inviting, nurturing, and can help students of all academic capabilities!
