I first came to James as a Sixth Form student who was genuinely struggling with A-Level Physics. He tutored me across the full two years of my Sixth Form and what I appreciated most about his teaching was his ability to make even the most intimidating concepts feel approachable and exciting by always connecting them to the real world. One experience that truly stands out is how he guided me through preparing my Personal Statement and the ESAT, which ultimately earned me an interview offer from the University of Cambridge. I now study Chemical Engineering at the University of Manchester, one of the most competitive courses in the UK, and I truly believe none of that would have happened without James. The study techniques, exam strategies and way of thinking he taught me still help me every day. We were looking for a tutor for our daughter to help with A level physics. I looked on this site and there were numerous tutors but James' bio stood out amongst the rest so we chose him - What a good choice it turned out to be! James has been fantastic, not only is he passionate and extremely enthusiastic about the subject he is also polite, caring and very well organised, always planning ahead of the lesson and asking what topics our daughter would like help with.

Our daughter is shy and quiet but as she got to know James we noticed that she was confident to ask questions when she was unsure about a topic.

James helped me with university physics entrance tests, interview prep and writing my personal statement! He explained difficult concepts in such simple ways, using memorable analogies. No matter what question I’d bring (a level or something from the physics olympiad) he explained it very well. He also put in a lot of time and effort helping me with my personal statement which I’m so grateful for. An amazing tutor that I highly recommend!

We covered a bit of the Electricity topic in A level physics and James explained things very in-depth, ensuring that I had a thorough understanding of the concepts. He answered all my questions in a way that was easy to understand, and made sure that I understood his explanations.

James was my son's A-Level Chemistry Tutor during the latter half of Year 13 and I highly recommend him as a tutor for anyone studying A-level Chemistry. His strong command and passion for chemistry teached him more advanced material, explaining interlinks between the subjects. I would also recommend him to all abilities as he was able to simplify complex topics in Chemistry and was able to convey the key details for the exam - which substantially improved his exam technique, during the covid-19 pandamic James was godsend and put my son's worries at ease.

James was an incredible tutor demonstrating an impressive knowledge base and intuition relating to any math and physics related subject (and more). Every question and problem was met with an adapted answer and in as much detail as necessary to understand not just know the solution. James' flexibility and availability were also a big plus as well as his ability to prepare my insurmountable requests for the next session.
