About Pranav
As a high school student, I often felt very stifled with how I was taught. I felt that due to logistical constraints, I was forced to suppress my inquisitiveness to save time and memorize information instead. It made me feel as if the system wasn't optimized for learning, but rather for getting kids to pass their exams and leave. This ignited in me a passion for teaching, motivating me to give other students the chance to learn in a better environment that better fostered the instinct to question and critically think. I am an Electrical and Computer Engineering Student at Carnegie Mellon University entering my 2nd year. For fun, I enjoy learning and researching random topics that interest me, from computer hardware to human evolution. I also enjoy building PCs and playing video games, and am a big sports fan. I mostly follow the three major American sports (being from the Bay Area I like the Giants, 49ers and Warriors) as well as tennis and cricket.

I can tutor Computer Science, Math and Physics. Below I've listed the specific topics.
Math: Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Basic Discrete Math and Linear Algebra
Physics: Both Calculus and Algebra-based Mechanics and Kinematics
Computer Science: Basic fundamentals of programming all through Data Structures & Algorithms using Python, Java and C
Can tutor in-person or online
When I was in High School, I noticed that students had two choices: memorizing formulas and approaches to problems without deeply thinking about why they work, and carefully questioning the bits and pieces of what they're taught to gain a deep, intuitive understanding of why it's true. The first option is faster, but makes school boring and doesn't result in lasting knowledge. It likens learning to a process of rote memorization, not discovery. The second option, however, can be time-consuming but is more engaging, and results in durable and thorough understanding.
I've realized that the best way to activate that second process in students is to let their questions drive the learning process. When this happens, they're never lost as to why they are learning what they're learning, since they're the directors. By asking the questions that motivate them, they will tend to automatically seek out deep understanding over rote memorization. It makes learning purposeful, fun, and long-lasting.

I've known Pranav for practically all my life, having grown up together. Throughout our grade school days, Pranav always studied at a higher level of Math than I did. Whenever I had questions about my own Math studies, he was my go-to person. Pranav's patience and non-judgemental nature made learning from him a pleasure. He has a unique teaching style that focuses on understanding the "why" behind concepts, rather than just memorizing formulas. His explanations always stuck with me and significantly improved my comprehension. I wholeheartedly recommend Pranav as a capable and trustworthy Math tutor for anyone seeking to enhance their understanding of the subject.
It is clear that Pranav has a unique passion for mathematics as well as other stem subjects. His genuine excitement for the material comes out while explaining concepts, making him an outstanding teacher.
