About Kristina
I currently tutor students one-on-one working to improve their English Language and Literature capabilities. In these lessons, students are at the forefront of my planning and we work together to build their active knowledge of English language features as well as broaden their vocabulary.
I have a PASS B CELTA qualification and also teach English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in both one-on-one and group sessions. Each session builds on a different skill and there is a noticeable difference each week in each student's confidence and their ability to express themselves. Praise from current students mentions the friendly atmosphere fostered in each lesson, how easy it is to ask questions, and the different activities that help to keep lessons interesting.
I achieved A*s at GCSE in English, German, and Spanish, and As at A-Level for the latter two. I then graduated from university with a 2:1 in German and Spanish so I have plenty of understanding of what it's like to learn a language - both the difficulties and the joys! I have a good understanding of languages in an academic context, as well as "in the real world".
My own experiences of language learning, both in and outside of the classroom, provide me with a certain level of empathy and understanding that only serves to improve my teaching. I can reflect on my own experiences of learning a language and show an active understanding of which areas students might find particularly difficult. I am also active in keeping lessons student-centred, as I know how much more beneficial this style of learning can be!

I work with students to develop their confidence in English in a friendly and enthusiastic way, encouraging them to ask questions and direct each lesson according to their needs.
I use "real-world" examples of English which I specially pick to suit each student's interests and appropriate to their level.
I always like to keep my lessons varied - I use different reading, listening, and speaking activities and aim for my lessons to be as student-centred as possible. The more a students proactively engages with the material, the better!
