My name is Alban and I hail from Washington DC, USA. I'm a proactive, enthusiastic, and dedicated English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher focused on providing an innovative, fun, and inspiring classroom. I have a steady track record of encouraging students and professionals of various group ages to master English while nurturing their love of the language, career ambitions, full living as well as liberal arts. Also, I have been deeply committed to finding new methods to get better results and improve the ESL program. From 2017 until 2019, I had an excellent opportunity to work as an ESL Teacher in the Madrid area, Spain. Since 2018, I have been teaching online classes with Whales English to students in China. Simultaneously, during these times, I have helped prepare aspiring business professionals to reach new career goals.

Foreign languages have appealed to me enormously because I have always been super keen to know and roam around the world. To date, “Hello” (English) aside, I take pride in knowing six other languages. Two at the advanced level: Tung! (Albanian) Zdravo! (Serbo-Croatian), whereas three at low intermediate level: Ciao! (Italian) Zdravie! (Bulgarian) Salut! (French) Hola! (Spanish).

Prior to teaching, I have held various entry and junior level positions for over 10 years with international organizations, government and non-profit entities in the field of financial inclusion, media and broadcasting, governance and elections, social services, and humanitarian aid.

Besides being a lifelong learner, I am also a curious explorer, art lover, and compassionate and dedicated volunteer for the community.

About the lesson

I love to personalize my classes to the students' needs while employing official techniques, e.g. modeling and repetition, total physical response, slow speaking, props, simple language, positive corrections, as well as creative non-official methods, e.g. day-to-day expressions and situations, jokes, pop culture, music, movies, etc.
A typical lesson includes greetings, intro and goals, objectives, essential skill(s), the core material, practice and examples, and a wrap-up and if needed homework.
Thanks to my positive and energetic persona, I try to never have a dull moment in my class. Also, due to my versatility and teaching experience with various age groups ranging from children to professional adults, I am suited to teach different levels and needs.
My specialties are teaching Business English, Reading Comprehension, Writing, and Speaking.

Depending on the level and needs of the student, the hourly rate can range from 20 USD to 40 USD. For example, for conversational classes, the rate will be lower compared to Business English Classes.
