About Anna

Hello! My name is Anna, and I am a Certified Alberta Teacher with over 42 years of teaching experience and more than 10 years of private tutoring experience.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages from McGill University, followed by a Master of Education. Throughout my career, I have taught in both Montreal and Alberta, working with students from diverse backgrounds and a wide range of learning needs.

My teaching experience includes regular classroom instruction, a closed special education classroom, ESL, gifted education, and adapted and modified programs. In Calgary, I also worked as both a homeroom teacher and a French as a Second Language (FSL) teacher for Grades 4 to 6, teaching approximately 250 students.

With decades of classroom and tutoring experience, I continue to use current, student-centered teaching strategies that make learning engaging, practical, and enjoyable. I am committed to helping every student build confidence, develop strong study habits, and become an independent learner.

Whether a student needs help mastering foundational math skills, improving problem-solving abilities, or preparing for the next school year, I provide personalized instruction in a patient, encouraging, and supportive environment.

About the lesson

Every student learns mathematics differently. My goal is to help students understand mathematical concepts, develop problem-solving skills, and gain the confidence they need to succeed.

Lessons begin by identifying each student's strengths and the areas where they need additional support. I explain concepts clearly using step-by-step instruction, guided practice, and real-life examples whenever possible. Students are encouraged to ask questions and work through problems at their own pace in a supportive and positive learning environment.

I believe that confidence is one of the keys to success in mathematics. By strengthening foundational skills and building on previous knowledge, students develop the confidence to tackle more challenging concepts independently.

I tutor elementary and junior high students who need extra support, wish to strengthen their mathematical understanding, prepare for a new school year, or simply want to improve their grades. Each lesson is personalized to meet the individual student's learning style and academic goals.
