About Doriene

I am a lover of languages, both learning and teaching. I also believe that learning a language is a lifetime journey.

Personally, I've been learning Spanish for 6+ years and eventually received my BA in Spanish because I absolutely love the language and culture. Although, I diverged from that path to receive my Master's degree in Information Technology, I am still learning and practicing Spanish weekly.

I've also taught English on a very part time basis for the past 5+ years and really enjoy doing so. I also have the pleasure of meeting and getting to know some amazing people. Recently, I received my certifications to teach ESL and Business English and am looking forward to putting that to use.

As your coach, my goal is to find the best path, together, to get you to the English level that you desire. I believe that learning English starts with your mindset about the language and that's where we start.

About the lesson

I am an ESL and Business/Professional English coach and I believe that learning anything, especially a language, starts with mindset and false beliefs about a language or yourself. You may believe that learning English is just hard or impossible to do. You may also believe that you cannot do it simply because you have bad memory, are afraid of failure or making mistakes, believe that you sound or look stupid when speaking, are embarrassed because you have an accent, or anything that is self-critical.

Well, that is where I like to start with my partners in English. We take a short amount of time to confront the mindset and all fears and setbacks. After, we go into why you are learning English and set goals based upon your motivations. Then, together, we make a lesson plan that you would prefer while incorporating material that pushes you to your final goal. Finally, we get to work. I strive to make lessons and my time with you fun and enjoyable for the both of us, so that you learn easier.

I provide Business English lessons to current and prospect professionals who need and or want to learn English to:

- earn higher pay
- get promoted at current employer
- obtain a job with English speaking role
- build more/better work relationships
- make presentations, negotiations, etc.
- speak with an English accent
