About Rae

Hello, my name is Rae. I have 20 years of experience helping students improve their Japanese language skills, from grammar and report writing to business conversations. My approach is friendly, clear, and tailored to each student's needs. I’m here to support you—whether you're preparing for an exam, aiming to improve your speaking skills, or both. I also incorporate memory techniques I’ve studied to make learning more effective. Apart from my work, I am into gardening, slow-life cooking, walking, supernatural wonders, and so on. About the lesson

I design Japanese lessons to fit each learner’s unique level, objectives, and pace.

My approach is friendly, interactive, and culturally rich, as I have a strong interest in the history of the Japanese language.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes long. You can use a textbook of your choice or freely available online materials—I'm flexible. I obtained an Advanced Certificate of Teaching Japanese in 2002 and can provide proof upon request.

Drawing on my background in law firms, government agencies, and global IT companies, I help learners build practical communication skills for all levels of professional settings. I teach keigo at various levels and also cover expressive elements like onomatopoeia.

In addition, I hold CELTA/TESOL qualifications and teach English to Japanese learners.

Methods used in my lessons include the Direct Method, the Communicative Approach, and the Natural Method.

First, I help learners build up their vocabulary and pronunciation, and I teach basic phrases so they can have simple conversations.

I usually respond instantly, or within 24 hours at the very latest. However, if I am travelling or catching a flight, my response time might be significantly longer.
