About Lauren
I am a certified math teacher with over eight years of experience working with elementary and middle school students in public school settings. I hold a master’s degree in teaching and have supported students across a wide range of abilities, including those with learning differences and math anxiety. I bring a professional, patient, and organized approach to tutoring and focus on creating a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My lessons are designed to be calm, structured, and confidence-building. I begin by identifying what a student already understands, then break new concepts into clear, manageable steps using visuals, examples, and guided practice. A typical lesson includes reviewing prior skills, learning or practicing one focused concept, and applying it through problems that gradually increase in difficulty.
My lessons are best suited for elementary and middle school students (grades 3–8), especially those who feel anxious about math, are struggling with foundational skills, or need consistent support. I adjust my approach based on each student’s needs and learning style, and I prioritize understanding over memorization so students feel more confident and capable over time.
