About the lesson

** Lessons will be given at local public library*** My Approach as a Tutor Teaching Methodology and Techniques I use a student-centered approach that prioritizes understanding over memorization. I aim to break down complex ideas into manageable parts, adapting explanations to the learner’s background and preferred style (visual, verbal, or hands-on). I incorporate questioning techniques to promote critical thinking, encourage students to explain their reasoning, and connect new concepts to prior knowledge. Where possible, I bring in real-world examples so students can see the relevance and application of what they’re learning. A Typical layout of each session: Warm-up (5–10 minutes): Check in, review key points from last session, identify any areas of confusion. New concept introduction (15–20 minutes): Explain and demonstrate the new topic, using examples and questions. Guided practice (20–25 minutes): Work through problems together, with progressively less support as confidence builds. Independent practice (10–15 minutes): The student tries questions on their own while I observe and guide. Wrap-up (5 minutes): Recap key ideas, preview the next lesson, and answer any final questions. I tailor lessons depending on the student's individual needs (including consideration of IEPs). I’m approachable and patient, and I focus on helping students gain confidence, not just skills. I also emphasize developing good study habits and a growth mindset, so students feel empowered beyond the tutoring session itself. My lessons are designed for: Secondary school students (grades 8–12) and students with diverse learning needs, including those who benefit from extra scaffolding or alternative ways of explaining concepts Whether you are struggling with core concepts, looking to extend your skills, or just want to build confidence, my tutoring is aimed at supporting you to achieve your personal math goals.
