My teaching method is based on 'constructivism' which focuses on the fact that all knowledge in a class in constructed in the mind of the learner. It is the job of the instructor to ensure that the students are faithfully reconstructing the concepts that they are taught. As a result, my teaching style involves asking students lots of questions to see where they are conceptually, and emphasizes reflective thinking in students. I am very approachable and still not too far removed from college myself, so most students are comfortable around me and find me to be more relatable than most professors.
I always encouraged struggling students to come to my office hours for 1-on-1 instruction, and many of those students were able to raise their grade by at least 1 letter grade as a result. I believe that anyone can get at least a B in chemistry if they do their homework, and then talk to me about anything that didn't make sense of they didn't quite feel comfortable with.
I have a Ph.D. in Organometallic Synthesis and Electrochemistry from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. I taught community college in that area for 2 years before moving to Hamilton. I currently teach online classes with my same community college as an adjunct professor, but I really miss the face-to-face interaction with students and seeing them learn and grow as scientists.

I met Timothy in 2017 at Ivy Tech Lafayette Campus. In his Chemistry 101 class.I had tried the class with another professor previously. Tim teaches largely from notes. Utilizing the textbook for homework questions. Timothy was always willing and eager to help myself and countless other students in my class and others. I ended up with an 83% in Chemistry 101 and an 86% in Chemistry 102. I calculated that I must have spent 128 hours easily in his office hours over the course of two classes. I cannot say enough good things about him as a person and a teacher! Hands down the best teacher I've ever had. He teaches with clarity and humor often adding real life examples or anecdotes about his days in the laboratory working towards his PhD at Purdue University.
I've had him as a professor in the past. He has a teaching method that a lot of my fellow classmates and I agree is very effective. He boasts a doctorate in Organometallic Chemistry and is very knowledgeable of the chemistry in general.
He never hesitated to help someone understand a difficult topic and was able to help me in my applied chemistry courses with his broad knowledge of the central science.
