About Helena
My interest in chess began through a fascination with strategy, planning, and problem-solving. This passion inspired me to complete a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics before earning a PhD in Cognitive Strategy Studies. Over the last 13 years, I have guided students through different levels of chess development.
I believe effective coaching combines clear instruction, encouragement, and careful analysis. My teaching style focuses on helping students understand the reasoning behind every move rather than relying on memorization. I enjoy creating lessons that challenge learners while keeping them motivated.
Outside teaching, I spend time studying master games, analyzing modern chess trends, and participating in chess communities. These activities help me bring fresh ideas into every lesson. Helping students improve their thinking and achieve their chess goals continues to inspire me as an educator.

My chess lessons are designed to help students develop strong decision-making skills while improving their understanding of the game. We focus on opening principles, tactical patterns, board awareness, piece coordination, endgame fundamentals, and calculation techniques through structured practice and game analysis. Every lesson encourages thoughtful play and steady improvement.
As learners progress, we explore strategic planning, positional evaluation, advanced tactics, time management, tournament preparation, and practical problem-solving. Lessons are tailored to individual strengths and areas for development, allowing students to improve efficiently. Regular review sessions help learners understand mistakes and build stronger habits.
I believe chess is an excellent tool for developing concentration, patience, and critical thinking. My goal is to help students become confident players who enjoy both learning and competition. Every lesson supports intellectual growth and long-term improvement.
