About Leanne
- What kind of experience do you have? I started teaching while I was at university, to all levels and ages and on Saturdays at The Priory School in Banstead. I studied at Kingston University which gave me the opportunity to perform at the Royal Albert Hall. I have also worked on many large West End shows in the sound department over the last 6 years and have taught as a sideline while working as a sound engineer. I am now concentrating fully on teaching and performance, with my pool of students increasing. I have a 100% pass rate with my students with exam results being merits or distinctions. - Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate? Yes - Where and with whom did you train? I have been trained privately. Throughout school and university I belonged to several bands and orchestras. I studied at Chichester College and Kingston University for my BMus(HON) Degree. - Tell me about some of your current students. I am very proud of one of my saxophone students who just gained a distinction at grade 6. A beautiful performance and very lovely comments from the examiner. Within my teaching, musicality, shaping of the music played is just as important as are playing the correct notes. This is what I have taught this particular student and the results of the exam speak for themselves. I have recently had 3 complete beginners of both the saxophone and clarinet. Great enthusiasm and improving at a fast pace.

I am an independent Clarinet and Saxophone tutor, with 18 years of experience, teaching at various levels to all ages and I have also taught within private schools. For me, teaching music it is not work, but a joy. My lessons have now moved online to maintain social distancing. - Which subject(s) do you teach? Clarinet and Saxophone at all levels Beginner Piano - Tell me about your qualifications. I have grade 8 distinction on the clarinet and saxophone, I began playing the clarinet at an early age, competing in competitions and joining orchestras through school. I continued to my studies of music at Chichester College of Arts Science and Technology gaining a Pre-Professional Diploma in music. After which I went to Kingston University to study music performance with recording technology leaving with a BM(Hons) degree. - How much do you charge? The first 30 minute lesson is free, then £23 for half an hour, £40 for an hour. Blocks of 10 lessons can be booked at a time or the lessons can be arranged on a casual basis. - Where do you teach? Due to the current situation of covid-19 all lessons are online. - When are you available? I am available to teach during the day or in the evenings. I also teach throughout the school holidays. - Which ages and levels do you teach? Teaching music has no age limits so I teach all ages at all levels on Saxophone and Clarinet, with piano it's solely beginners. One of my saxophone students was in his 70's, it was such an honour to teach him and to see the enjoyment he gained from music. My youngest pupil is learning the piano at 4 yrs old. - Which qualifications do you prepare your students for? ABRSM - Do you have a personal message for students? I believe music is about expression, enjoyment and most of all fun, it is not all about work. Playing and performing individually or with others in the way of groups, orchestras, bands etc. Learning an instrument whatever it may be, no matter what age you are teaches you to open your soul and mind to many things. Music is much more than just reading dots on a page and playing an instrument. Through the art of music skills such as expression, creativity, listening and commitment can be learned which can be applied to most things in life. Learning the Clarinet has been amazing for me, it has such a beautiful tone which when mastered is simply breath-taking. I feel so privileged to have had the opportunity to learn to play and it is a joy to pass my knowledge and love of music on to someone else. To give others the ability, skills and confidence to express yourself through music, be it for fun or to work up through the grades.

Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
Leanne has consistently taught myself and my kids over the last 3+ plus years. Her quiet, calm and patient demeanor has facilitated a pleasant atmosphere for learning.
Leanne is the best and most qualified music teachers I've had, and I've had a few! She taught me the alto sax during a time when my confidence was very low and I learnt so much about how to express myself through breath and music. Leanne has to be one of the most patient and persevering people that I know, always moving at her students' pace and at the same time motivating and gently encouraging you to progress. It didn't take long for us to become good friends. Highly recommend Leanne as a Superprof!
My daughter had lessons with Leanne for quite a few years. She also had lessons with other tutors but Leanne is by far the best teacher my daughter had. Leanne is so calm, polite, always encouraging, patient and professional. I would highly recommend Leanne to anybody who wants to learn to play and /or pass saxophone/clarinet exams. You'll be delighted with the results!
Leanne is a great friend and fellow graduate, from 20 years ago. I highly recommend her as a music teacher, due to the unbeatable trio of her musical knowledge at the highest degree level, her excellent teaching skills, and the considerable experience she has subsequently acquired.
Leanne is an affable, patient teacher and a good communicator. She always encourages her pupils, always boosts their confidence, always 'listens' to them, and always answers any of their questions. I have watched her several times in action, being a pianist myself.
Leanne has now taught for the past 18 years and helped her pupils achieve a preponderance of Merits and Distinctions, without a single fail to date. She is always industrious and always willing to learn by keeping up to date with the ABRSM exam board's latest innovations and trends. Her constant perseverance and genuine love of her work, in turn, enable her pupils to really engage with her, to really enjoy their lessons, to find them really rewarding and, above all, to bring out their full potential.Leanne is a kind and patient tutor who clearly cares about her students. She is great with young beginners and my son looks forward to his lesson with her each week. I would highly recommend her.
Leanne has a detailed knowledge and understanding of musical genres, techniques and learning styles. Her outstanding skill is in hooking into the interests of her pupils and to instil in them a love of music and the joy of learning and playing pieces, as she did with my daughter. Leanne’s enthusiasm is infectious and her ability to encourage her students to go beyond their own expectations is impressive. She was very good at assessing Leah’s abilities and interests and adjusting the lessons accordingly. Leanne was further able to relate to and understand the needs of my daughter with special needs and work towards encouraging her and setting achievable goals whilst stretching her at a comfortable level. She was adept and able to put even the most nervous player at ease and to relax into playing and to make it fun. My daughter’s musical abilities blossomed under Leanne’s guidance. Leanne is a very gifted teacher.
RebeccaLeanne is an absolute find - she’s patient, meticulous and inspirational. Perfect to relax and encourage the nervous beginner!
My daughter left to go to uni and I wanted to take up a new hobby so I decided to learn to play the clarinet. I started playing about 6 months ago from scratch and approached Leanne via the website because she was local and sounded friendly. I have enjoyed every minute of my weekly lessons with Leanne and can recommend her without hesitation. She is warm, musical, and makes every lesson a joy.
