My teaching method is simple: teach for the student. As important as it is to me that my students advance musically, it's just as important that they enjoy learning and have a positive association with music. Everyone learns differently, so this will vary person to person.
I love to assist the student in growing in ways that help them the most. I believe that a good teacher can adapt their lessons and teaching methods to fit with the needs of each student. My classes are meant for people with no understanding of music skills up to students who want to pass their high school music class.
My teaching is adapted and respectful of the learner's individuality. I would expect a committment equal to aspirations. I do not take on true beginners. You have to have some experience.
My approach in the past was subjects on popular music, movies, or cultural events, solo singing, group singing. In this case, I would play clarinet, and get student to repeat notes and tone. Repetition, is the best method to adopt, new playing style.
I'm focused on breathing techniques and body use to make sure students maximize their music making without straining themselves. I always cater to the interest of the student in what they want to achieve.
