About Tiffany
I have a B.A in Finance and a M.A. and Ed.S. in Physical Education. I have taught grades 6-12 and numerous college courses. I loved teaching PE but I would often tutor students in math during class, especially before a big test. Helping students see all the ways that understanding math can help them in class as well as life in general is my favorite. I love when I see the “light bulb” come on and they get something they may have been struggling with. I am married with a 5-year-old daughter. I love to garden, travel, and be mommy.

I make it real using everyday life examples. Many students are already using algebra and don’t even know it, so we can put their experiences and current knowledge together to make it click and gain understanding and confidence. I have tutored and taught pre-algebra and algebra for over 13 years. One of my favorite examples would be for absolute value: while sitting at a stop sign you could go left or right. If you go right, you are putting miles on your odometer. If you go left, you are also putting miles on your odometer. This is how absolute value works, it’s distance from the starting point and there is no such thing as negative distance.
