About Aiden
Aiden Johnson is a second-year student at the esteemed conservatory, Manhattan School of Music, studying Classical Double Bass Performance. An accomplished player, Johnson has performed in prestigious pre-collegiate ensembles like the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra and Emory University Youth Symphony Orchestra as well as five consecutive years in the Georgia All-State Orchestra under the instruction of Gloria Jones-Allgood. He has performed for David Grossman in a masterclass during his time in the Emory Youth Symphony and participated in an intensive online summer program with Cory Palmer. He was also selected to attend the Brevard Music Center Summer Institute where he expanded his orchestral techniques. In addition, Johnson has pursued soloistic opportunities such as performing in his high school concerto competition twice and advancing to the semifinals of the Gwinnett County concerto competition. Johnson is currently studying with renowned bassist, Jeremy McCoy.

I will utilize a holistic approach to improve upon skills that will create a solid foundation for your playing.
In the first lesson, I will evaluate the level at which you are playing and assess what techniques and skills should be built. A unique and personalized plan for how to reach goals and how to effectively practice new skills at home will also be taught to solidify and retain information presented during the lesson.
During a typical one hour lesson, it would begin with material that was assigned to be practiced from the previous week. This will be followed by constructive criticism aimed to uplift and correct skills that are critical in forming a strong foundation. Following corrections, concepts such as phrasing, vibrato, French bow technique, and musicality will be discussed to make you a more advanced and knowledgeable bassist.
My lessons are aimed towards middle and high school students interested in improving their playing while in school as well as beginner adults interested in bass.
