About Anelie

I have always felt passionate about music and was drawn at a very young age to the guitar because of its versatility. I started taking classical guitar lessons at age 7 at a Conservatoire in Paris. I studied alongside music theory which I pursued for 9 years. As a chamber music player, I played concerts with other musicians but also as a soloist in different parts of France. As I finished my curriculum after 14 years in this institution, I obtained my classical guitar Diploma.

In parallel of my classical studies, I played in several pop/rock bands as a guitarist and a singer. I interpreted and played many genres but also started writing and composing music for the bands.

For my upper studies, I moved to Edinburgh to follow a music performance course and obtained a Bmus with Honours at the University of Edinburgh. I studied alongside music performance, music psychology, music history, keyboard accompaniment and Chinese Mandrin as a minor subject.

From high school until now, I have been giving lessons to children and teenagers from a beginner to intermediate level. I have experience teaching in French and English.

I enjoy transmitting my passion for music and the guitar. Each student has a different approach to playing and listening to music and I am attentive to the student’s needs to provide a better teaching experience.

About the lesson

Hello!

I teach 1 to 1 guitar lessons to beginners and intermediates who wish to improve on their guitar skills in various styles from classical to pop/rock. I approach guitar tutoring by teaching the basics of the instrument, developing repertoire through playing or discovering new pieces, and technique.

Depending on your personal preference, music will be studied with a music score, chord sheet, or by ear. I can also teach music theory through the guitar, if you wish to develop your knowledge on this subject.
Repertoire or songs can be suggested by the student, but I can also recommend some pieces according to your level.
Technical aspects from the pieces will be tackled with exercises given in the lesson, for you to be able to practice methodologically at home.

Lessons can be more or less challenging according to your needs, but I aim to teach in a friendly and passionate environment!

Perfect! Anelie has taught our 7/8 year old son guitar and music theory for a year now and we are all, both parents and pupil, very happy with her lessons, professional approach and lovely personality.
