Welcome! Teaching is my passion. I love to see pupils grow and blossom and to witness them gaining confidence in their playing. Musical development can impact all areas of life, encouraging both discipline and emotional intelligence.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Violin and Viola
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I won a coveted place at the Yehudi Menuhin School at the age of 8. At 18 I travelled far and wide and was given Scholarships all the major Music Collegs and Universities including Juilliard, Peabody, Curtis, Royal Academy of Music, Guildhall School of Music and the Royal College of Music where I began studying with many prestigious teachers including Simon Rowland-Jones, Dr Felix Andrievsky.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £35 an hour. A free consultation lesson may be possible.
- Where do you teach?
I teach privately in my own home. I do not travel.
- When are you available?
I teach mostly after school from 4pm onwards however I have many adult students that attend during the day. I'm very flexible and try to accommodate when I can. I have a heavy schedule but always do what I can to fit students in.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach beginners to advanced. I do prefer that students are at least 6 years old but this can vary depending on the child and their emotional maturity. I enjoy teaching all ages.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I am happy to guide students through the ABRSM grades. It's is a good way to focus learning. I do however enjoy exploring repertoire with no exam timetable. Everyone learns and experiences musical advancement very differently, so a certain amount of flexibility is necessary.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
Music is in us all, waiting to be nurtured and explored. The joy that can be had by learning an instrument is immeasurable. Developing well as a musician is a combination of discipline, determination and dedication. If you work hard you get to play hard! My pupils are my passion and I love teaching all ages and abilities. Amazing advancements can be made in all areas of life by studying an instrument. The most important thing I believe is that music lessons should be fun, above all!
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
Jessamy is an amazing tutor. She teaches both my daughters to play the violin. They had never played the violin before and within a month they were playing pieces very well. I was pleasantly surprised because I thought it would take longer. Jessamy is able to draw out their natural talent and abilities with her calm, easy and fun teaching methods. She is kind, patient and understanding and my children love going to their lessons and THAT is the true sign of a great tutor.
Jess has been teaching for many successful years and has built up and incredible reputation. She is reliable, supportive and has a great rapport with her pupils. She encourages each student to strive for the very best.
